June 20 is the day with the most daylight we will receive all year, about 15 hours. Each day will be a few seconds shorter.
After a day of torrential rain and a night of storms, Duluthians found roads washed away all over the region, some zoo animals dead or escaped (the seal was recaptured on a nearby roadway after its exhibit area flooded), with standing water and debris blocking intersections and roads all over the place. Mayor Ness has declared a state of emergency; Governor Dayton will visit tomorrow to survey the damage.
A long day indeed.
